
Development of the Electrical Engineering Sector Discussed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
On June 12, 2025, the Uzeltechsanoat Association hosted a meeting with the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), led by Almaz Toigomboev, EBRD’s Regional Director for Central Asia. Chairman of the Association Mirziyod Yunusov and Deputy Chairman Jahongir Jamalov participated in the negotiations.
During the meeting, the EBRD expressed its readiness to allocate concessional financial resources to Uzbek electrical engineering enterprises to support the development of new products and the expansion of existing operations.
To this end, EBRD experts will assess the financial and technical capacity of enterprises, with specialists working directly on-site. Based on this evaluation, the most promising and export-oriented companies will be selected to receive financial support.
The discussions also covered topics such as workforce development, skills enhancement, support in certification processes for exporting companies, and potential grant funding to obtain certifications for newly developed products.
📌 Background: To date, the EBRD has financed over 170 projects in Uzbekistan with a total value exceeding $5.2 billion, contributing significantly to industrial modernization and the strengthening of the country's export capabilities.
This meeting marked an important step toward deepening bilateral cooperation and fostering sustainable growth and competitiveness in Uzbekistan's electrical engineering sector.
